I'm a Baton Rouge-based Bachelor's of Architecture student and poet. In both endeavors, I’m an obsessive of the economical, pruning, producing something with an invisible string taut enough that to add or subtract would upset its balance or rhythm. In either, I’m interested in a vernacular and scale rooted in my native Louisiana, a place I feel is as untapped in its potential to teach us how to live in a new ecological age as it is for its rich cultural tapestry. As a nontraditional student, I've been privileged to work alongside and learn from a younger generation comprised of those both smarter and more adept than me, but have enjoyed some leadership roles within groups for studio projects and school-wide workshops. The things which engage me the most are tied to indeterminacy—in design, that's an interest in decay, natural forces, and a built environment which registers time. In those leadership moments, that's an enthusiasm for and acquiescence to the ideas of others, discovery through collaboration, so the universe as a machine of serendipity can function unabated.
